Balboa Bay Resort takes the view that sustainable hotels are built on daily operating choices rather than a pledge on a webpage, so this page lays out what we actually do and where we are still working.

On the water, we follow strict runoff and marina discharge standards to keep the bay clean, and our landscaping uses drought-tolerant and native planting with smart irrigation to cut water use. Inside, guest rooms run on LED lighting and high-efficiency HVAC, linen and towel reuse is opt-in rather than assumed, and single-use plastics have been removed from guest rooms, meetings and in-room dining in favor of refillable and recyclable alternatives.
